Training may be advisable for employees to educate themselves on the various issues for health and safety reasons and to avoid citations.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) gives guidance on issues affecting health and safety in relation to transportation. The DOT does not certify training or trains anyone, unlike OSHA, but only mandates that employees be trained in certain topics in certain industries. For more information, visit the DOT website
